How To Install ganglia-gmond on CentOS 8

ganglia-gmond is Ganglia Monitoring daemon

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install ganglia-gmond on CentOS 8.

What is ganglia-gmond

Ganglia is a scalable, real-time monitoring and execution environment with all execution requests and statistics expressed in an open well-defined XML format. This gmond daemon provides the ganglia service within a single cluster or Multicast domain.

We can use yum or dnf to install ganglia-gmond on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ganglia-gmond.

Install ganglia-gmond on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install ganglia-gmond using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install ganglia-gmond

How To Uninstall ganglia-gmond on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the ganglia-gmond package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove ganglia-gmond
