fuse is File System in Userspace (FUSE) v2 utilities

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install fuse on CentOS 8.

What is fuse

With FUSE it is possible to implement a fully functional filesystem in a userspace program. This package contains the FUSE v2 userspace tools to mount a FUSE filesystem.

We can use yum or dnf to install fuse on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install fuse.

Install fuse on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install fuse using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install fuse

How To Uninstall fuse on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the fuse package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove fuse
