How To Install fsverity-utils on CentOS 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install fsverity-utils
on CentOS 8.
What is fsverity-utils
This is fsverity, a userspace utility for fs-verity. fs-verity is a Linux kernel feature that does transparent on-demand integrity/authenticity verification of the contents of read-only files, using a hidden Merkle tree (hash tree) associated with the file. The mechanism is similar to dm-verity, but implemented at the file level rather than at the block device level. The fsverity utility allows you to set up fs-verity protected files.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install fsverity-utils
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install fsverity-utils.
Install fsverity-utils on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install fsverity-utils
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install fsverity-utils
Install fsverity-utils on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh

How To Uninstall fsverity-utils on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the fsverity-utils
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove fsverity-utils
