How To Install fcl on CentOS 8

fcl is Flexible Collision Library

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install fcl on CentOS 8.

What is fcl

FCL is a library for performing three types of proximity queries on a pair of geometric models composed of triangles. * Collision detection optionally, all of the triangles that overlap. * Distance computation of models, i.e., the distance between the closest pair of points. * Tolerance verification farther than a tolerance distance. * Continuous collision detection overlap during the movement, and optionally, the time of contact. * Contact information detection, the contact information (including contact normals and contact points) can be returned optionally.

We can use yum or dnf to install fcl on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install fcl.

Install fcl on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install fcl using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install fcl

How To Uninstall fcl on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the fcl package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove fcl
