How To Install dracut-kiwi-live on CentOS 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install dracut-kiwi-live on CentOS 8.

What is dracut-kiwi-live

This package contains the kiwi-live dracut module which is used for booting iso(live) images built with KIWI

We can use yum or dnf to install dracut-kiwi-live on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install dracut-kiwi-live.

Install dracut-kiwi-live on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install dracut-kiwi-live using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install dracut-kiwi-live

Install dracut-kiwi-live on CentOS 8 Using yum

How To Uninstall dracut-kiwi-live on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the dracut-kiwi-live package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove dracut-kiwi-live
