How To Install dnf on CentOS 8

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install dnf on CentOS 8.

What is dnf

Utility that allows users to manage packages on their systems. It supports RPMs, modules and comps groups & environments. dnf 4.4.2 11.el8 noarch 539 k dnf-4.4.2-11.el8.src.rpm baseos Package manager https GPLv2+ and GPLv2 and GPL Utility that allows users to manage packages on their systems. It supports RPMs, modules and comps groups & environments.

We can use yum or dnf to install dnf on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install dnf.

Install dnf on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install dnf using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install dnf

How To Uninstall dnf on CentOS 8
