What is cups-lpd

CUPS printing system provides a portable printing layer for UNIX\xae operating systems. This is the package that provides standard lpd emulation.

We can use yum or dnf to install cups-lpd on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install cups-lpd.

Install cups-lpd on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install cups-lpd using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install cups-lpd

How To Uninstall cups-lpd on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the cups-lpd package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove cups-lpd
