In this tutorial we learn how to install cryptopp on CentOS 8.

What is cryptopp

Crypto++ Library is a free C++ class library of cryptographic schemes. See http One purpose of Crypto++ is to act as a repository of public domain (not copyrighted) source code. Although the library is copyrighted as a compilation, the individual files in it are in the public domain.

We can use yum or dnf to install cryptopp on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install cryptopp.

Install cryptopp on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install cryptopp using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install cryptopp

How To Uninstall cryptopp on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the cryptopp package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove cryptopp
