How To Install clevis on CentOS 8

clevis is Automated decryption framework

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install clevis on CentOS 8.

What is clevis

Clevis is a framework for automated decryption. It allows you to encrypt data using sophisticated unlocking policies which enable decryption to occur automatically. The clevis package provides basic encryption/decryption policy support. Users can use this directly; but most commonly, it will be used as a building block for other packages. For example, see the clevis-luks and clevis-dracut packages for automatic root volume unlocking of LUKS volumes during early boot.

We can use yum or dnf to install clevis on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install clevis.

Install clevis on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh
