How To Install CCfits on CentOS 8

CCfits is A C++ interface for cfitsio

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install CCfits on CentOS 8.

What is `CCfits`

CCfits is an object oriented interface to the cfitsio library. It is designed to make the capabilities of cfitsio available to programmers working in C++. It is written in ANSI C++ and implemented using the C++ Standard Library with namespaces, exception handling, and member template functions.

We can use yum or dnf to install CCfits on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install CCfits.

Install CCfits on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install CCfits using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install CCfits

Install CCfits on CentOS 8 Using yum

How To Uninstall CCfits on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the CCfits package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove CCfits
