How To Install carbon-c-relay on CentOS 8

carbon-c-relay is Enhanced C implementation of Carbon relay, aggregator and rewriter

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install carbon-c-relay on CentOS 8.

What is carbon-c-relay

Carbon-like Graphite line mode relay. This project aims to be a replacement of the original Carbon relay. The main reason to build a replacement is performance and configurability. Carbon is single threaded, and sending metrics to multiple consistent-hash clusters requires chaining of relays. This project provides a multithreaded relay which can address multiple targets and clusters for each and every metric based on pattern matches.

We can use yum or dnf to install carbon-c-relay on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install carbon-c-relay.

Install carbon-c-relay on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install carbon-c-relay using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install carbon-c-relay

Install carbon-c-relay on CentOS 8 Using yum

How To Uninstall carbon-c-relay on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the carbon-c-relay package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove carbon-c-relay
