Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install bouncycastle-mail on CentOS 8.

What is bouncycastle-mail

The Bouncy Castle Java S/MIME APIs for handling S/MIME protocols. This jar contains S/MIME APIs for JDK 1.5 to JDK 1.8. The APIs can be used in conjunction with a JCE/JCA provider such as the one provided with the Bouncy Castle Cryptography APIs. The JavaMail API and the Java activation framework will also be needed.

We can use yum or dnf to install bouncycastle-mail on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install bouncycastle-mail.

Install bouncycastle-mail on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install bouncycastle-mail using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install bouncycastle-mail

Install bouncycastle-mail on CentOS 8 Using yum

How To Uninstall bouncycastle-mail on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the bouncycastle-mail package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove bouncycastle-mail
