How To Install boinc-manager on CentOS 8

boinc-manager is GUI to control and monitor boinc-client

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install boinc-manager on CentOS 8.

What is boinc-manager

The BOINC Manager is a graphical monitor and control utility for the BOINC core client. It gives a detailed overview of the state of the client it is monitoring. The BOINC Manager has two modes of operation, the “Simple View” in which it only displays the most important information and the “Advanced View” in which all information and all control elements are available.

We can use yum or dnf to install boinc-manager on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install boinc-manager.

Install boinc-manager on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install boinc-manager using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install boinc-manager

How To Uninstall boinc-manager on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the boinc-manager package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove boinc-manager
