How To Install bgpdump on CentOS 8

bgpdump is MRT file reader for handling BGP related data

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install bgpdump on CentOS 8.

What is `bgpdump`

Bgpdump translates (possibly compressed) binary MRT RIB dump files, e.g. produced by Zebra/Quagga, BIRD, OpenBGPD or PyRT, into human readable output. Publicly available MRT RIB dump files are e.g. supplied by the RIPE NCC routing information service (RIPE RIS).

We can use yum or dnf to install bgpdump on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install bgpdump.

Install bgpdump on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install bgpdump using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install bgpdump

Install bgpdump on CentOS 8 Using yum

How To Uninstall bgpdump on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the bgpdump package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove bgpdump
