How To Install apache-commons-codec on CentOS 8

What is apache-commons-codec
Commons Codec is an attempt to provide definitive implementations of commonly used encoders and decoders. Examples include Base64, Hex, Phonetic and URLs.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install apache-commons-codec
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install apache-commons-codec.
Install apache-commons-codec on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install apache-commons-codec
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install apache-commons-codec

How To Uninstall apache-commons-codec on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the apache-commons-codec
package we can use the following command:
