How To Install amavisd-milter on CentOS 8

amavisd-milter is Sendmail milter for amavisd-new using the AM.PDP protocol

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install amavisd-milter on CentOS 8.

What is amavisd-milter

The amavisd-milter is a sendmail milter (mail filter) for amavisd-new 2.4.3 (and above) and sendmail 8.13 (and above) which use the new AM.PDP protocol. Run ‘usermod -a -G amavis postfix’ when using Postfix and amavisd-milter via the unix socket.

We can use yum or dnf to install amavisd-milter on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install amavisd-milter.

Install amavisd-milter on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install amavisd-milter using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install amavisd-milter

How To Uninstall amavisd-milter on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the amavisd-milter package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove amavisd-milter
