What is pngcrush.x86_64
%{pngcrush} is an optimizer for PNG (Portable Network Graphics) files. It can be run from a commandline in an MSDOS window, or from a UNIX or LINUX commandline. Its main purpose is to reduce the size of the PNG IDAT datastream by trying various compression levels an PNG filter methods. It also can be used to remove unwanted ancillary chunks, or to add certain chunks including gAMA, tRNS, iCCP, and textual chunks.
We can use yum
to install pngcrush.x86_64
on Amazon Linux 2. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install pngcrush.x86_64.
Install pngcrush.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install pngcrush.x86_64
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install pngcrush.x86_64
How To Uninstall pngcrush.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2
To uninstall only the pngcrush.x86_64
package we can use the following command:
sudo yum remove pngcrush.x86_64
