In this tutorial we learn how to install opensm.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2.

What is `opensm.x86_64`

OpenSM is the OpenIB project’s Subnet Manager for Infiniband networks. The subnet manager is run as a system daemon on one of the machines in the infiniband fabric to manage the fabric’s routing state. This package also contains various tools for diagnosing and testing Infiniband networks that can be used from any machine and do not need to be run on a machine running the opensm daemon.

We can use yum to install opensm.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install opensm.x86_64.

Install opensm.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install opensm.x86_64 using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install opensm.x86_64

How To Uninstall opensm.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2

To uninstall only the opensm.x86_64 package we can use the following command:

sudo yum remove opensm.x86_64
