In this tutorial we learn how to install libotf.i686
on Amazon Linux 2.
What is libotf.i686
The library “libotf” provides the following facilites. Read Open Type Layout Tables from OTF file. Currently these tables are supported; head, name, cmap, GDEF, GSUB, and GPOS. Convert a Unicode character sequence to a glyph code sequence by using the above tables. The combination of libotf and the FreeType library (Ver.2) realizes CTL (complex text layout) by OpenType fonts. This library is currently used by the m17n library. It seems that the probject Free Type Layout provides the similar (or better) facility as this library, but currently they have not yet released their library. So, we have developed this one.
We can use yum
to install libotf.i686
on Amazon Linux 2. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libotf.i686.
Install libotf.i686 on Amazon Linux 2 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install libotf.i686
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install libotf.i686
How To Uninstall libotf.i686 on Amazon Linux 2
To uninstall only the libotf.i686
package we can use the following command:
sudo yum remove libotf.i686
