What is libidn2.x86_64

Libidn2 is an implementation of the IDNA2008 specifications in RFC 5890, 5891, 5892, 5893 and TR46 for internationalized domain names (IDN). It is a standalone library, without any dependency on libidn.

We can use yum to install libidn2.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libidn2.x86_64.

Install libidn2.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install libidn2.x86_64 using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install libidn2.x86_64

How To Uninstall libidn2.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2

To uninstall only the libidn2.x86_64 package we can use the following command:

sudo yum remove libidn2.x86_64
