What is `ledmon.x86_64`

The ledmon and ledctl are user space applications design to control LED associated with each slot in an enclosure or a drive bay. There are two types of system Status LED) and 3-LED system (Activity LED, Locate LED, Fail LED). User must have root privileges to use this application.

We can use yum to install ledmon.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ledmon.x86_64.

Install ledmon.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install ledmon.x86_64 using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install ledmon.x86_64

How To Uninstall ledmon.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2

To uninstall only the ledmon.x86_64 package we can use the following command:

sudo yum remove ledmon.x86_64
