In this tutorial we learn how to install imake.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2.

What is imake.x86_64

Imake is a deprecated source code configuration and build system which has traditionally been supplied by and used to build the X Window System in X11R6 and previous releases. As of the X Window System X11R7 release, the X Window system has switched to using GNU autotools as the primary build system, and the Imake system is now deprecated, and should not be used by new software projects. Software developers are encouraged to migrate software to the GNU autotools system.

We can use yum to install imake.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install imake.x86_64.

Install imake.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install imake.x86_64 using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install imake.x86_64

How To Uninstall imake.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2

To uninstall only the imake.x86_64 package we can use the following command:

sudo yum remove imake.x86_64
