What is git.x86_64
Git is a fast, scalable, distributed revision control system with an unusually rich command set that provides both high-level operations and full access to internals. The git rpm installs common set of tools which are usually using with small amount of dependencies. To install all git packages, including tools for integrating with other SCMs, install the git-all meta-package.
We can use yum to install git.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install git.x86_64.
Install git.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install git.x86_64 using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install git.x86_64
How To Uninstall git.x86_64 on Amazon Linux 2
To uninstall only the git.x86_64 package we can use the following command:
sudo yum remove git.x86_64
