How To Install gmp-devel on AlmaLinux 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install gmp-devel on AlmaLinux 8.
What is gmp-devel
The libraries, header files and documentation for using the GNU MP arbitrary precision library in applications. If you want to develop applications which will use the GNU MP library, you’ll need to install the gmp-devel package. You’ll also need to install the gmp package.
We can use yum or dnf to install gmp-devel on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install gmp-devel.
Install gmp-devel on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install gmp-devel using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install gmp-devel
Install gmp-devel on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install gmp-devel using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install gmp-devel
How To Uninstall gmp-devel on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the gmp-devel package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove gmp-devel
