What is zgen

zgen is:

zgen is a lightweight plugin manager for ZSH inspired by Antigen. The goal is to have a minimal overhead when starting up the shell because nobody likes waiting. The script generates a static init.zsh file which does nothing but sources your plugins and appends them to fpath. The downside is that you have to refresh the init script manually with zgen reset whenever you update your ~/.zshrc.

There are three methods to install zgen on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install zgen Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install zgen using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install zgen

Install zgen Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install zgen using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install zgen

Install zgen Using aptitude
