How To Install virtio-forwarder on Debian 10

on Debian 10.
What is virtio-forwarder
virtio-forwarder is:
virtio-forwarder is a userspace networking application that forwards bi-directional traffic between SR-IOV virtual functions and virtio networking devices in QEMU virtual machines. virtio-forwarder implements a virtio backend driver using the DPDK??s vhost-user library and services designated VFs by means of the DPDK poll mode driver (PMD) mechanism.
There are three methods to install virtio-forwarder
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install virtio-forwarder Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install virtio-forwarder
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install virtio-forwarder
Install virtio-forwarder Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install virtio-forwarder
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install virtio-forwarder
Install virtio-forwarder Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install virtio-forwarder
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install virtio-forwarder
How To Uninstall virtio-forwarder on Debian 10
To uninstall only the virtio-forwarder
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove virtio-forwarder
Uninstall virtio-forwarder And Its Dependencies
To uninstall virtio-forwarder
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove virtio-forwarder
Remove virtio-forwarder Configurations and Data
To remove virtio-forwarder
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge virtio-forwarder
Remove virtio-forwarder configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove virtio-forwarder
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge virtio-forwarder
