What is uphpmvault

uphpmvault is:

The HP MediaVault–generation 2 a.k.a MV2–implements a custom recovery protocol for rescuing a device when the operating system image is corrupt. The uphpmvault application listens for broadcast Ethernet packets from an MV2 devices waiting for recovery. On receipt of one of these ‘beacon’ packets, uphpmvault transmits a recovery image to the waiting device which will automatically boot the recovery image.

The primary purpose of this application is for installing Debian GNU/Linux on an MV2.

There are three methods to install uphpmvault on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install uphpmvault Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install uphpmvault using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install uphpmvault

Install uphpmvault Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install uphpmvault using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install uphpmvault

Install uphpmvault Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install uphpmvault using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install uphpmvault

How To Uninstall uphpmvault on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the uphpmvault package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove uphpmvault

To uninstall uphpmvault and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove uphpmvault

Remove uphpmvault Configurations and Data

To remove uphpmvault configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge uphpmvault
