What is tomoyo-tools

tomoyo-tools is:

TOMOYO Linux is a lightweight and easy-to-use path-based Mandatory Access Control (MAC) implementation with:

  • automatic policy configuration via “learning” mode;
  • an administrator-friendly policy language;
  • no need for SELinux, or userland program modifications.

This package provides the audit daemon and administrative utilities for use on a Linux kernel with TOMOYO support (standard in Debian kernels).

There are three methods to install tomoyo-tools on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install tomoyo-tools Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install tomoyo-tools using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install tomoyo-tools

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install tomoyo-tools using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install tomoyo-tools

Install tomoyo-tools Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install tomoyo-tools using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install tomoyo-tools

sudo apt-get remove tomoyo-tools

sudo apt-get -y autoremove tomoyo-tools

To remove tomoyo-tools configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge tomoyo-tools
