How To Install tig on Rocky Linux 8

What is tig
Tig is a repository browser for the git revision control system that additionally can act as a pager for output from various git commands. When browsing repositories, it uses the underlying git commands to present the user with various views, such as summarized revision log and showing the commit with the log message, diffstat, and the diff. Using it as a pager, it will display input from stdin and colorize it.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install tig
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install tig.
Install tig on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install tig
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install tig
Install tig on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install tig
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install tig
How To Uninstall tig on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the tig
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove tig
