What is textern

Textern is a Firefox add-on that allows you to edit text areas in web pages using an external editor. It is similar in functionality to the popular It’s All Text! add-on, though makes use of the WebExtension API and is thus fully compatible with multiprocessing and supported beyond Firefox 57. This is not a self-standing Firefox add-on, it’s only the “native” application used by Add-on named “textern”. Please install the Add-on manually.

We can use yum or dnf to install textern on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install textern.

Install textern on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install textern using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install textern

Install textern on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install textern using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install textern

How To Uninstall textern on Rocky Linux 8
