How To Install tekka on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install tekka
on Debian 9.
What is tekka
tekka is:
The sushi IRC suite consists of a central daemon and several clients, which communicate via DBus. DBus methods and signals are provided by the daemon to abstract the IRC protocol. Clients can use these methods and signals to easily interact with IRC.
tekka is a GTK-driven client for maki and is written in Python. It uses Glade to describe the interface, supports plugins and tries to stick to the GNOME Human Interface (HIG) guidelines.
There are three methods to install tekka
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tekka Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install tekka
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install tekka

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install tekka
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install tekka
Install tekka Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install tekka
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install tekka
How To Uninstall tekka on Debian 9
To uninstall only the tekka
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tekka
Uninstall tekka And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tekka
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tekka
Remove tekka Configurations and Data
To remove tekka
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tekka
