How To Install sword on Rocky Linux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sword
on Rocky Linux 8.
What is sword
The SWORD Project is the CrossWire Bible Society’s free Bible software project. Its purpose is to create cross-platform open-source tools– covered by the GNU General Public License– that allow programmers and Bible societies to write new Bible software more quickly and easily. We also create Bible study software for all readers, students, scholars, and translators of the Bible, and have a growing collection of over 200 texts in over 50 languages.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install sword
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install sword.
Install sword on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install sword
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install sword
Install sword on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install sword
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install sword
How To Uninstall sword on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the sword
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove sword
