How To Install sqsh on Ubuntu 20.04

What is sqsh
sqsh is:
sqsh is a flexible commandline utility that uses the freetds libraries to connect to Sybase or Microsoft SQL servers. It is a useful debugging tool for identifying problems with other SQL applications, and it can be used as a productivity tool in its own right: unlike most SQL CLIs, sqsh’s interactive shell lets you pipe the output of SQL queries directly to other Unix commands for further processing.
There are three methods to install sqsh
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get

Install sqsh Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get

sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install sqsh
using apt-get

sudo apt-get -y install sqsh

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sqsh
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sqsh
Install sqsh Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sqsh
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sqsh
How To Uninstall sqsh on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the sqsh
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sqsh
Uninstall sqsh And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sqsh
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sqsh
Remove sqsh Configurations and Data
To remove sqsh
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sqsh
Remove sqsh configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sqsh
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sqsh
