In this tutorial we learn how to install sfcgal-dbg on Debian 9.

What is sfcgal-dbg

sfcgal-dbg is:

SFCGAL is a C++ wrapper library around CGAL with the aim of supporting ISO 19107:2013 and OGC Simple Features Access 1.2 for 3D operations.

SFCGAL provides standard compliant geometry types and operations, that can be accessed from its C or C++ APIs. PostGIS uses the C API, to expose some SFCGAL’s functions in spatial databases (cf. PostGIS manual).

This provides debug symbols for SFCGAL.

There are three methods to install sfcgal-dbg on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install sfcgal-dbg Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install sfcgal-dbg using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install sfcgal-dbg

How To Uninstall sfcgal-dbg on Debian 9
