How To Install service-wrapper on Ubuntu 18.04

The Java Service Wrapper makes very easy to install a Java Application as a daemon process on Unix systems. The Wrapper monitors a JVM (Java Virtual Machine) process and automatically restarts it if it that the JVM has crashed or hung. This process takes just a few seconds once the Wrapper has decided there is a problem. It also gives the ability to handle process priority.
There are three methods to install service-wrapper on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install service-wrapper Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install service-wrapper using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install service-wrapper
Install service-wrapper Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install service-wrapper using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install service-wrapper
Install service-wrapper Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install service-wrapper using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install service-wrapper
How To Uninstall service-wrapper on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the service-wrapper package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove service-wrapper
Uninstall service-wrapper And Its Dependencies
To uninstall service-wrapper and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove service-wrapper
Remove service-wrapper Configurations and Data
To remove service-wrapper configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge service-wrapper
Remove service-wrapper configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove service-wrapper configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge service-wrapper
