How To Install scmutils on Debian 12
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install scmutils on Debian 12.
What is scmutils
scmutils is:
An integrated library of procedures, embedded in the programming language Scheme, and intended to support teaching and research in mathematical physics and electrical engineering. Scmutils and Scheme are particularly effective in work where the almost-functional nature of Scheme is advantageous, such as classical mechanics, where many of the procedures are most easily formulated as quite abstract manipulations of functions.
This code was developed for educational and research use at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
There are three methods to install scmutils on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install scmutils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install scmutils using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install scmutils
Install scmutils Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install scmutils using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install scmutils
Install scmutils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install scmutils using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install scmutils
How To Uninstall scmutils on Debian 12
To uninstall only the scmutils package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove scmutils
Uninstall scmutils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall scmutils and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove scmutils
Remove scmutils Configurations and Data
To remove scmutils configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge scmutils
Remove scmutils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove scmutils configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge scmutils
