What is sagan-rules

sagan-rules is:

Sagan is a multi-threaded, real time system- and event-log monitoring system, but with a twist. Sagan uses a “Snort” like rule set for detecting malicious events happening on your network and/or computer systems. If Sagan detects a potentially bad event, that event can be stored to a Snort database (MySQL/PostgreSQL), send it to a SIEM tool like Prelude, or send an email.

This package provides the rules for Sagan.

There are three methods to install sagan-rules on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install sagan-rules Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install sagan-rules using apt-get by running the following command:
