What is ruby-compass

ruby-compass is:

Compass is a CSS authoring framework which uses the Sass stylesheet language to make writing stylesheets powerful and easy.

Compass provides ports of the best of breed css frameworks that you can use without forcing you to use their presentational class names.

This package provides configuration file and command line tools.

NB! Please note that Compass is no longer maintained upstream: Please use Sass instead.

There are three methods to install ruby-compass on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install ruby-compass Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-compass using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install ruby-compass

Install ruby-compass Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-compass using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install ruby-compass

Install ruby-compass Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-compass using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install ruby-compass

How To Uninstall ruby-compass on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the ruby-compass package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove ruby-compass

Uninstall ruby-compass And Its Dependencies

To uninstall ruby-compass and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-compass

Remove ruby-compass Configurations and Data

To remove ruby-compass configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-compass

Remove ruby-compass configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove ruby-compass configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ruby-compass
