What is renderdoc

renderdoc is:

RenderDoc is a free MIT licensed stand-alone graphics debugger that allows quick and easy single-frame capture and detailed introspection of any application using Vulkan, D3D11, OpenGL & OpenGL ES or D3D12 across Windows 7 - 10, Linux, or Android.

This metapackage installs the qrenderdoc gui application, the renderdoccmd command line tool and python3 renderdoc support.

There are three methods to install renderdoc on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install renderdoc Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install renderdoc using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install renderdoc

Install renderdoc Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install renderdoc using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install renderdoc

Install renderdoc Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install renderdoc using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install renderdoc

How To Uninstall renderdoc on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the renderdoc package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove renderdoc

Uninstall renderdoc And Its Dependencies

To uninstall renderdoc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove renderdoc

Remove renderdoc Configurations and Data

To remove renderdoc configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge renderdoc

Remove renderdoc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
