What is rc

rc is:

rc is a command interpreter and programming language similar to sh(1). It is based on the AT&T Plan 9 shell of the same name. It is reasonably small and reasonably fast, especially when compared to contemporary shells. Its use is intended to be interactive, but the language lends itself well to scripts.

Install rc Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install rc using apt by running the following command:

Install rc Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install rc using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install rc

How To Uninstall rc on Ubuntu 20.04

To uninstall only the rc package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove rc

To uninstall rc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove rc

Remove rc Configurations and Data

To remove rc configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge rc
