What is rc

rc is:

rc is a command interpreter and programming language similar to sh(1). It is based on the AT&T Plan 9 shell of the same name. The shell offers a C-like syntax (much more so than the C shell), and a powerful mechanism for manipulating variables. It is reasonably small and reasonably fast, especially when compared to contemporary shells. Its use is intended to be interactive, but the language lends itself well to scripts.

There are three methods to install rc on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install rc Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install rc using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install rc

Install rc Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install rc using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install rc

Install rc Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install rc using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install rc

How To Uninstall rc on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the rc package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove rc

Uninstall rc And Its Dependencies

To uninstall rc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove rc

Remove rc Configurations and Data

To remove rc configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge rc

Remove rc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove rc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge rc
