How To Install ratmenu on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install ratmenu on Kali Linux.
What is ratmenu
ratmenu is:
This is ratmenu, a simple program that allows you to create X menus from the shell. Although designed for ratpoison, it will work with any ICCCM compliant window manager.
It was forked from 9menu version 1.5, to provide specific support for the ratpoison window manager. Where 9menu only responds to the mouse, and ignores the keyboard, ratmenu has all mouse sensitivity taken out, and only responds to the keyboard. Since then it has evolved nifty features and behaviors of its own. The source code was also cleaned up and old cruft weeded out.
There are three methods to install ratmenu on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ratmenu Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ratmenu using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ratmenuInstall ratmenu Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ratmenu using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ratmenuInstall ratmenu Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ratmenu using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ratmenuHow To Uninstall ratmenu on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the ratmenu package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ratmenuUninstall ratmenu And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ratmenu and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ratmenuRemove ratmenu Configurations and Data
To remove ratmenu configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ratmenuRemove ratmenu configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ratmenu configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ratmenuDependencies
