rasdaemon is:
rasdaemon is a RAS (Reliability, Availability and Serviceability) logging tool. It currently records memory errors, using the EDAC tracing events. EDAC are drivers in the Linux kernel that handle detection of ECC errors from memory controllers for most chipsets on x86 and ARM architectures. There are three methods to install rasdaemon
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude

Install rasdaemon Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get

After updating apt database, We can install rasdaemon

Install rasdaemon Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install rasdaemon

How To Uninstall rasdaemon on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the rasdaemon
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove rasdaemon
Uninstall rasdaemon And Its Dependencies
To uninstall rasdaemon
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove rasdaemon
Remove rasdaemon Configurations and Data
To remove rasdaemon
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge rasdaemon
