What is quagga-bgpd

quagga-bgpd is:

GNU Quagga is free software which manages TCP/IP based routing protocols. It supports BGP4, BGP4+, OSPFv2, OSPFv3, IS-IS, RIPv1, RIPv2, and RIPng as well as the IPv6 versions of these.

This package contains the BGP4/BGP4+ routing daemon.

There are three methods to install quagga-bgpd on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install quagga-bgpd Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install quagga-bgpd using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install quagga-bgpd

Install quagga-bgpd Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install quagga-bgpd using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install quagga-bgpd

Install quagga-bgpd Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install quagga-bgpd using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install quagga-bgpd

How To Uninstall quagga-bgpd on Ubuntu 20.04

To uninstall only the quagga-bgpd package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove quagga-bgpd

sudo apt-get -y autoremove quagga-bgpd

sudo apt-get -y purge quagga-bgpd

We can use the following command to remove quagga-bgpd configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
