How To Install python3-elasticsearch on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install python3-elasticsearch on Debian 9.
What is python3-elasticsearch
python3-elasticsearch is:
Official low-level client for Elasticsearch. Its goal is to provide common ground for all Elasticsearch-related code in Python; because of this it tries to be opinion-free and very extendable.
The client’s features include:
- translating basic Python data types to and from json (datetimes are not decoded for performance reasons)
- configurable automatic discovery of cluster nodes
- persistent connections
- load balancing (with pluggable selection strategy) across all available nodes
- failed connection penalization (time based - failed connections won’t be retried until a timeout is reached)
- thread safety
- pluggable architecture
This package contains the Python 3 version of the library.
There are three methods to install python3-elasticsearch on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python3-elasticsearch Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python3-elasticsearch using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python3-elasticsearch
Install python3-elasticsearch Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python3-elasticsearch using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python3-elasticsearch
Install python3-elasticsearch Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python3-elasticsearch using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python3-elasticsearch
How To Uninstall python3-elasticsearch on Debian 9
To uninstall only the python3-elasticsearch package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python3-elasticsearch
Uninstall python3-elasticsearch And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python3-elasticsearch and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python3-elasticsearch
Remove python3-elasticsearch Configurations and Data
To remove python3-elasticsearch configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python3-elasticsearch
Remove python3-elasticsearch configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
