In this tutorial we learn how to install python-zake on Ubuntu 18.04.

What is python-zake

python-zake is:

Zake is a Python package that works to provide a nice set of testing utilities for the kazoo library.

It includes the following functionality:

  • Storage access (for viewing what was saved/created).
  • Kazoo mostly compatible client API.
  • Sync/transaction/create/get/delete… commands.
  • Listener support.
  • And more…

It simplifies testing by providing a client that has a similar API as the kazoo client so that your tests (or applications/libraries that use kazoo) do not require a real zookeeper server to be tested with (since this is not available in all testing environments).

This package contains the Python 2.x module.

There are three methods to install python-zake on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install python-zake Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

How To Uninstall python-zake on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the python-zake package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove python-zake

To uninstall python-zake and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-zake

Remove python-zake Configurations and Data

To remove python-zake configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge python-zake

Remove python-zake configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove python-zake configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
