Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install python-tracing on Debian 9.

What is python-tracing

python-tracing is:

Provides the Python library ’tracing’ to help with logging debug messages. This library provides a function for logging debug messages. It is sometimes practical during software development to add a lot of debugging log messages to a program, but having them enabled all the time results in very large log files. Also, logging that much takes quite a bit of time.

This module provides a way to turn such debugging (or tracing) messages on and off, based on the filename they occur in. It is much faster than using logging.Filter to accomplish the same thing, which matters when code is run in production mode. The actual logging still happens using the logging library.

There are three methods to install python-tracing on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install python-tracing Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install python-tracing using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install python-tracing

Install python-tracing Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install python-tracing using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install python-tracing

Install python-tracing Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install python-tracing using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install python-tracing

How To Uninstall python-tracing on Debian 9

To uninstall only the python-tracing package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove python-tracing

Uninstall python-tracing And Its Dependencies

To uninstall python-tracing and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
