What is python-pyocr

python-pyocr is:

PyOCR is an optical character recognition (OCR) tool wrapper for Python. That is, it helps using OCR tools from a Python program.

PyOCR can be used as a wrapper for google’s Tesseract-OCR or Cuneiform. It can read all image types supported by Pillow, including jpeg, png, gif, bmp, tiff, and others. It also support bounding box data.

This is the Python 2 version of the package.

There are three methods to install python-pyocr on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install python-pyocr Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install python-pyocr using apt-get by running the following command:

To uninstall only the python-pyocr package we can use the following command:

To uninstall python-pyocr and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-pyocr

Remove python-pyocr Configurations and Data

To remove python-pyocr configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
