How To Install python-lhapdf on Ubuntu 18.04

python-lhapdf is:
LHAPDF provides a unified and easy to use interface to modern PDF sets. It is designed to work not only with individual PDF sets but also with the more recent multiple “error” sets. It can be viewed as the successor to PDFLIB, incorporating many of the older sets found in the latter, including pion and photon PDFs. In LHAPDF the computer code and input parameters/grids are separated thus allowing more easy updating and no limit to the expansion possibilities.
This package provides Python bindings for LHAPDF.
There are three methods to install python-lhapdf on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-lhapdf Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-lhapdf using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-lhapdf
Install python-lhapdf Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-lhapdf using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-lhapdf
Install python-lhapdf Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-lhapdf using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-lhapdf
How To Uninstall python-lhapdf on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the python-lhapdf package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-lhapdf
Uninstall python-lhapdf And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-lhapdf and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-lhapdf
Remove python-lhapdf Configurations and Data
To remove python-lhapdf configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-lhapdf
Remove python-lhapdf configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-lhapdf configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-lhapdf
