on Debian 10.
What is python-ffc
python-ffc is:
The FEniCS Form Compiler FFC provides state-of-the-art automatic and efficient evaluation of general multilinear forms (variational formulations) for FEniCS. FFC functions as the form evaluation system for DOLFIN but can also be used to compile forms for other systems.
FFC works as a compiler for multilinear forms by generating code (C or C++) for the evaluation of a multilinear form given in mathematical notation. This new approach to form evaluation makes it possible to combine generality with efficiency; the form can be given in mathematical notation and the generated code is as efficient as hand-optimized code.
This is a dummy package that depends on python3-ffc. (FFC is no longer available library for Python 2).
There are three methods to install python-ffc
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-ffc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-ffc
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-ffc

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-ffc
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-ffc
Install python-ffc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-ffc
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-ffc
How To Uninstall python-ffc on Debian 10
To uninstall only the python-ffc
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-ffc
Uninstall python-ffc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-ffc
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-ffc
Remove python-ffc Configurations and Data
To remove python-ffc
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-ffc
Remove python-ffc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-ffc
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-ffc
